Mary Frances (Meyer) Ewald, 96, a resident of Gulfport, MS for more than 50 years passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2024, in Ocean Springs, MS.
Mary Frances, “Fran”, and her husband were stationed with the Air Force in many different states in the 1960’s and 1970’s, finally retiring on Hand Drive in Gulfport. Fran retired from Gayfers as a sales associate in Women’s Better Sports Wear and was regularly recognized throughout the community by some of her favorite customers. Fran was an avid New Orleans Saints fan, enjoyed watching professional golf and thought Jack Nicklaus was the greatest golfer of all time. She enjoyed dining out, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, and snacking in general. But most of all, she enjoyed spending hours talking with friends on her porch, in her den, or at her favorite restaurant - Salute’s. Fran spent the last year of her life in Ocean Springs where she would sit on the porch or patio listening to Frank Sinatra, The McGuire Sisters, or tapping her toes to 80’s Disco music. She also enjoyed FaceTiming her great grandson, petting her adopted dog, Gracie or snuggling with the cats, Reese and Patrick. Fran will be missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John Leonard Ewald in 1997; her parents, Helene (Siebert) and Richard Meyer of Dayton, OH; her sisters, Mary Virginia Condron, Mary Bernadine Ferdelman, and Mary Helene Burke, all of Dayton, OH.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Jill (Darryl) Gibson, her granddaughters, Olivia (Jon) Angotti and Madeline (Peyton) Duhe, and her great grandson, Jonathan Angotti.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of South Mississippi or the Jackson County Animal Shelter.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, November 15, 2024 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Friends may visit one hour prior. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
