Mary Nanelle Fortenberry Fleming, age 88, passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2016 in Gulfport. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eckie Fortenberry; and her brother, William “Pete” Fortenberry. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Dolan C. Fleming; her daughter, Merri Lynne (Jim) Booth; her grandson, Connor Booth; her sister-in-law, Bennie Jean Fortenberry; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Dwight (Linda) Fleming; and two nieces and 3 nephews.
Mrs. Fleming had been a resident of Gulfport since 1967. She was an elementary school teacher, beginning her career in Columbia, MS and then finally retiring from the Harrison County School District. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Gulfport, a graduate of University of Southern Mississippi and a member of the USM Alumni Association.
The family would like to thank the members of Faith Baptist Church Nursing Home Ministry and the Gulfport Care Center for the loving care of her for the past 22 months and most recently Southern Care Hospice for their care in her final days.

The funeral service will be Friday, November 4, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, O’Neal Road, Gulfport with visitation one hour before. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
