Mary “Sammy” Alene McInnis Harold, 78, of Marrero , LA passed away Thursday, July 18, 2024. Mary was born January 29, 1946 in Vallejo, CA.

Mary was a source of support and playfulness in her family’s lives. As a mother and grandmother, she brought boundless energy and affection to every moment spent with her loved ones. Her devotion to her husband, Ernest Louis Harold Jr., who passed away in 2007, was a testament to their enduring partnership, having shared 43 cherished years together. Mary’s home was a sanctuary filled with stories and imagination. Her extensive book collection, gathered over years of working at Bayou Books in Gretna, Louisiana, ranged from timeless classics to rare first editions, each reflecting her deep love for literature and her joy in sharing it with others. Her home was also a haven for her beloved pets, showcasing the same compassion she extended throughout her life, including her dedicated service at Acadiana West Animal Clinic. As a mother and grandmother, Mary’s warmth, wisdom, and playful spirit created lasting memories for her family. Her legacy is one of joy, support, and a profound connection to the people and pets she cherished. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Louis Harold Jr.; parents, Pat and Edna McInnis, and Marie Williams; son, Nathan Harold; and sister, Kathy.

Survivors include her children, Elizabeth (Les) Barnett, Ernest (Millie) Harold III, Scott (Karen) Harold and Tina (Jay) Cavallo; 18 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.

A private memorial service will be held for the family. The family would like to say a special thanks to the staff at Angel Oaks Private Care Home in Ocean Springs, MS.
