"Mary K." (Sevcik) (Skaret) Pierson, 83, resident of Methodist Retirement Community, Seashore Manor, Biloxi, died Tuesday, April 4, 2006 in Biloxi. She was born January 25, 1923 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. Mary K. began her civil service career in November 1944, Pentagon, Washington, D.C. She worked for the Army and Air Attache's, American Embassy, Oslo, Norway,Ankara and Istanbul, Turkey as a civilian secretary for Federal Aviation Administration, Seattle, Washington. She was a founding member of the Civil Air Patrol. After living in Mesa and Apache Junction, Arizona, she came to Gautier in 1984. In December 1998, she took residency at Methodist Retirement Community in Biloxi. She was a member of the Jackson County Amateur Radio Club in Pascagoula and held an FCC General Class license, N5HXS. She was a member of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Gem and Mineral Society in Pascagoula and a member of the Society of Airway Pioneers (Federal Airways System). After their retirement she and her late husband began crafting wire ming trees which were made with precious gemstones for the leaves and flowers and were placed upon rare rock bases. This eventually led to her establishing an enterprise packaging and distributing precious gemstones, tools and rare rocks at she taught the craft throughout the world including England, Germany and Norway. Preceded in death by two husbands, Kristian Levorsen "Kris" Skaret of Fla, Hallingdal, Norway and Robert Allen Pierson of Gautier, her parents George and Maria Sevcik, a sister, Ann Marie Tyra, two brothers, Andrew Sevcik and John Paul "Johnny" Sevcik, Pennsylvania State Police, a nephew Michael David "Mike" Tyra of Houston, Texas. Survived by her niece Rebecca J. "Becky" (Alan) Bossenger of New Jersey, nephew Gregory L. Tyra of Odessa, Texas, two step-children Roberta Parker and Patricia Lynn Christensen, both of Utah. Special thanks to her longtime friend and caregiver, Pal Reeves, for the loving care she gave to Mary. Following cremation, she will be placed in Crestlawn Memorial Park. Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Pass Road is in charge of arrangements. The family prefers that memorials be given to J. T. Leggett Memorial United Methodist Church 1410 Beach Blvd. Biloxi, MS 39530.
