Mary Bradley Crowder King, 88, of Biloxi, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2016, surrounded by her family. She was born on January 11, 1928, in Griffin, Georgia. Mary and her late husband, Bill, for many years owned and operated King Rentals & Sales in Biloxi. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was the heart of her family, and “Mimi” was adored by all of her grandchildren. In the words of her grandson, Christian: “She was the perfect example of a Southern belle. A Georgia Peach by birth, she moved to the Mississippi Gulf Coast and added a splash of magnolia – as in “steel”! She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin A. Crowder and Collie W. Crowder, her husband of 53 years, Joseph W. (Bill) King, her brother, John W. (Bubba) Crowder, and her sister, Martha Pope Crowder. She is survived by her son, Joe (Gail) King, and daughters, Joni (James) Byrd, and Sheri (Frank) Boettcher, her grandchildren, Jim (Linda) Boettcher, Christian (Jennifer) Byrd, Joe (Jacqui) Boettcher, Cully King, Ashley Byrd, Jack (Nicole) Boettcher, and John King, six great-grandchildren, her brother, Charles A. (Al) Crowder, sisters-in-law, Merry Crowder, Chappy Crowder, and Rosemary Evans, special cousin, Jane Jackson, numerous nieces and nephews, and her faithful and loving companion of 15 years, her Pekingese, Little Man. The family would like to thank the staff of Greenbriar Nursing Center and Gentiva Hospice for their loving care of Mary. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Gentiva Hospice, 962 Tommy Munro Drive, Biloxi, MS, 39532, or Mt. Zion United Methodist Campground, P. O. Box 355, Experiment, GA, 30212. A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 22, 2016 at the Biloxi National Cemetery at 10am with her son-in-law, Dr. James K. Byrd, officiating. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jim Boettcher, Joe Boettcher, Christian Byrd, Charlie Byrd, Cully King and John King.
