Mrs. Mary Lee Williams Garrard, age 56, of Ocean Springs, MS., died Wednesday, September 29, 2010, in Ocean Springs. Mary Lee was born on January 31, 1954, in Hattiesburg, MS. She grew up in Houma, LA while spending many summers with family and grandparents in Ocean Springs. She graduated from Terrebone High School and continued her education at Nicholls State University receiving a degree in nursing. Upon graduating from Nicholls, Mary Lee began her nursing career at St. Ann's Hospital in Raceland, La. After moving to Ocean Springs, she worked in surgery at Ocean Springs Hospital. She concluded her nursing career as Dr. Ray Wesson's surgical nurse. Mary Lee was preceded in death by her father, Bennie Williams, grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Gay and Mr. and Mrs. Willie Williams. Survivors include her husband, Jack Garrard, daughter, Francesca (Joey) Nitcavic and son, Daniel (Kerri) Garrard, three wonderful grandchildren, Kendal Nitcavic, Gavin Nitcavic and Makayla Garrard and one (Ava Shae Garrard) on the way, her mother, Estelle Gay Reese, six brothers and sisters, Betsy (Ricky) Cadle, Jennifer Williams (Arthur Eberweil), George Williams, Jacquie Gillman, Ted Williams, and Walter Williams, and numerous cousins, aunts and one uncle. Family, friends, and a strong faith were the focus of her life. Visitation will be on Saturday, October 2, 2010, from 9:30 am until 11 am with an 11 am service at St. John's Episcopal Church in Ocean Springs. Interment will follow in the memorial garden at St. John's Episcopal Church. Father Wayne Ray will officiate. In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations be made to Mary Lee's favorite charity, St. Judes Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN. 38105. The Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. .
