Mrs. Mary Louise Pickich Liscoe, died peacefully with her husband, Fred, by her side on Tuesday, November 2, 2010, at the age of 85.
Mary was born in Biloxi, MS. on December 28, 1924. She was an active military wife and met each new challenge with a smile and calm resolve. In 1972, after a 30-year distinguished military career, Fred and Mary returned to the Gulf Coast. There, they enjoyed 38 years together. She was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and served as Eucharistic Minister and past State President, Knights of Columbus Women's Auxiliary. Also, she was a member of the Biloxi Slavic Lodge. In her early years as a military wife she worked as a volunteer with the American Red Cross and Military Family Services. She received numerous awards for her unselfish dedicated service. While her husband served in Vietnam, Mary fulfilled a lifelong dream by attending nursing school. Her greatest gift was her unfailing, selfless love and devotion to her family. Mary's generosity and genuine positive outlook carried her to her very last hours. As the many stars of the greatest generation now are making their way to the heavens, hers will shine the brightest, right over home.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Stella Fountain Pickich, Sr., three brothers, Albert "Blue" Jr., Jack Sr., and Shannon "Ace" Sr.
She leaves to cherish her memories, a devoted husband of 65 years, Frederick F. Liscoe, Sr. Retired United States Air Force Senior Master Sergeant, son, Frederick F. (Kathie/deceased) "Rusty" Liscoe, Jr., of Pensacola, FL., and daughter, Patricia (Robert) Nance of Gulf Breeze, FL. She was proudest of her only grandchild, Frederick F. "Jantzen" Liscoe, III. She was also survived by three loving sisters and a brother, Helen (Dan/deceased) Gollott, Shirley (Paul) Delcambre, Patricia (Bobby/deceased) Thiroux, and Jerry (Jackie) Pickich all of Biloxi, MS.
Visitation will be on Monday, November 8, 2010, from 9:30 am until 11:00 am, with an 11:00 am Mass of Christian Burial, all at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the family plot in Biloxi City Cemetery.
The Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
