Surrounded by family and friends, Mary Estelle Wilson McDavid, beloved by family, friends and all who knew her, peacefully went home to the Lord on Sunday, March 4, 2018. A resident of Ocean Springs for nearly 40 years, she will be laid to rest next to her late husband, Charles D. McDavid, at the Biloxi National Cemetery.
Mary was born on May 25, 1931, in Birmingham, Alabama. She was the eighth of nine children born to Robert and Florence Wilson. Her first job was at the Southern Bell Telephone Company in Birmingham, AL. After she moved to Ocean Springs, MS, she retired as a telemetry nurse at the hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles McDavid, brothers, Robert Wilson, Gustave Wilson, Walker Wilson and sisters, Martha Clayton, Nell Henderson, Florence Mossey and Francis Edwards.
Survivors include her sons, Captain Harry McDavid, SC, USN, Retired, and his wife, Leslie, of Vonore TN, and Jack McDavid, retired FBI Special Agent, of Ocean Springs, MS, and a brother, Billy Wilson and his wife, Olga, of Zachary LA. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Brian McDavid and his wife, Nicole, and Amanda McDavid Fridley and her husband, Christopher, and two great grandchildren, Aidan and James McDavid.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 6, from 12pm until 1pm, with a 1pm chapel service, all at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. On Wednesday, March 7, there will be a 10am graveside service in Biloxi National Cemetery.
