Mary Mercer Carpenter

Mrs. Mary Mercer Carpenter, 90, of Biloxi, MS, died Friday, December 3, 2010, in Biloxi. A resident of Biloxi since 1954, Mrs. Carpenter served two terms on the Biloxi City Council from 1981 to 1988. She was a Methodist and served on the Board of Trustees of the First United Methodist Church on Hopkins Blvd. in Biloxi. She was a member of the Miramar Garden Club, Altrusa Club and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Mrs. Carpenter was preceded in death by her husband, Tom, and sons, Tommy and Paul. She is survived by her daughters, Dianne, Connie (Richard Thompson), and Candy (Dr. John Douglas); grandchildren, Lucy Thompson and Juliana and Callie Douglas; sister-in-law, Mrs. Winona Carpenter; and numerous nieces and nephews. At her request ther will be no service. Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Howard Avenue, in Biloxi is in charge of arrangements.
