Mary Doris Milner Burrow, 92, of Gulfport died Saturday, February 23, 2013 in Gulfport.
Mrs. Burrow was born in Pickensville, AL and has been a resident of Gulfport since 1952, moving here from Decatur, MS. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church and a graduate of East Central Jr. College and Jackson Business School. Mrs. Burrow enjoyed needlepoint and shopping and she loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. During WWII, Mrs. Burrow worked as an administrative assistant at the Pentagon. She also worked in the Ladies Department at M. Salloum’s Department Store and also as a social worker with the Gulfport Community Development Commission.
Mrs.Burrow is preceded in death by her husband, Parker H. Burrow; and her sister, Ruby Milner.
Survivors include her daughters, Deeta (Charles) Ellzey of Cookeville, TN and Dane (Charlie) Hewes of Gulfport; her grandchildren, Tanya Rose (Ed) Hanner, Derek (Beth) Rose, Maridane Clare Hewes and Charles Parker Hewes; and her great-grandchildren, Noah Patrick Barrett, Ella Margaret Rose and Anna Katherine Rose.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be made to St. John Catholic Church, 2414 17th St. Gulfport, MS 39501.
Visitation will be at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street Chapel in Gulfport on Monday, February 25, 2013 from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. with a recitation of the Rosary at 4:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. John Catholic Church in Gulfport on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Friends may visit from 9:30 a.m. until mass time. A graveside service will be held at Tyrone Cemetery in Prentiss, MS on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.
