Mary Emma Skaar

Mary Emma Skaar passed away at her daughter’s home on Tuesday, June 20, 2017, surrounded by her loving children. Mary Emma was born in Gautier, MS on March 16, 1931, to Napoleon and Neta Ladnier. Sweet, sweet Mary lived most of her life in Ocean Springs, MS where she raised her two children. She worked for R.F. Ederer Company and retired in 1993. Mary Emma loved playing bingo, watching “Jeopardy”, and eating breakfast at McElroys where the staff treated her like a princess. She was a sweetheart that wouldn't be seen without her bangs across her forehead and blush on her cheeks. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Aubrey Ladnier, Orey Ladnier, Gladys McVeay and son-in-law, Harry Leaghty. Ms. Skaar leaves to cherish her memories her two children, daughter, Lois Leaghty Ravera (Sandro), son, Roy “Hotshot” Skaar, Jr., grandchildren, Courtney Leaghty Kozlowski (Jared), Ashely Sharp Denham, Dustin Skaar and many other relatives and friends. A special thanks to Dee and Toni of Heart to Heart for their love and care. Mary loved you very much, Dee; Dr. McKee for keeping his promise to care for Mary; Dorthy Dunning and staff of SAADS Healthcare for their tender love, care and support of our mom during her illness. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Monday, June 26th, 2017 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Ocean Springs. Visitation will be held from 10am until 11am, with a 9:40am Rosary. Internment will follow in Seymour Cemetery in Ocean Springs, MS. The Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
