Mary Traylor Alexander

Mary Traylor Alexander, 97, of Long Beach, MS died on Sunday, April 11, 2010. Mary was born on January 16, 1913 in Pinola, MS. She began work in Gulfport as a Title Abstractor in 1947 and continued her career in various positions until she retired from the Chancery Clerk's office in Gulfport in 2003 at the age of 90. Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Aubrey Alexander; parents, John and Connie Lazenby Traylor. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Wood (Charlie) of Pass Christian; step-son, Tom Alexander (Donna) of Gulfport; grandchildren, Steve Wood (Lisa), Richie Wood and Becky Wood-Lassabe (Ken) all of Long Beach; great-grandchildren, Alex and Sam Wood of Long Beach. The family gives special thanks to Canon Hospice which cared for Mary during her final days and considers them to be part of the extended family. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the 15th Street Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Gulfport. Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow in Long Beach City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family prefers that donations be made to the Humane Society of South MS, 2615 25th Ave., Gulfport, MS 39501.
