Mrs. Mary Margaret Wade, age 91, of Ocean Springs, MS died on Friday, May 31, 2013, in Ocean Springs.
Mrs. Wade was born on March 20, 1922. "Margy" was a lifelong resident of Biloxi, never met a stranger and was always giving of herself and doing for her family and friends. She was a sweet and caring person who always loved the elderly and the sick. "Margy" was one of four children born to Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Kornman, Sr. She lived for a while in D'Iberville where her parents owned a dairy farm and later moved with her family to Biloxi. Margy was involved in many activities and social functions around Biloxi. She was a member of the Slavonian Lodge in Biloxi for several decades, a member of the Biloxi Elks Lodge Ladies Auxiliary # 606 and was honored as Elkette of the Year. She was bestowed the honor of Lion Club mother of the year in 1984 and worked the annual Slavic golf tournament for many years, passing out food and drinks to the golfers. "Margy" also worked the shrimp festival and made pusharattas every Christmas with her friends for many years. Margy dedicated her love, her time and her service to others. She helped every year with the Elks special Christmas party for Harrison County Schools for Exceptional Children along with her dear friend, Flo Savarro. She loved to travel and was a Eucharistic minister who went to the Saltillo Mission. She was a past president of the Sacred Heart GHS PTA, the Legion of Mary (Nativity), Altar Society, past president of the Slavic Ladies Auxiliary and worked the golf tournament, member of the Neighborly Club, poll worker and marched with the Dixie Strutters at Mardi Gras. She loved the Atlanta Braves, the New Orleans Saints and cooking for her family. Margy loved life to the fullest and her special blessings were her grandchildren. She truly was an angel on earth and will be forever loved and missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred Wade, Sr, parents, Victoria and Jacob Kornman, Sr., brother, Jacob Kornman Jr and two sisters, Norma Wiltz and Joeann DeGregorio.
Survivors include three daughters, Kornman (Wallace "Chip") Barnes, Barbara Wade and Victoria W. (Jay) Trochesset, son, Wilfred (Kathie) Wade, Jr, grandchildren, Wade (Loretta) Barnes, Natalie (Dustin) Boles, Dustin Trochesset, Brandon (Marissa) Trochesset, Sheree Montiforte, Ryan (Gina) Wade, Chad (Tammy) Wade and Candace Wade, thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be on Monday, June 3, 2013, from 10 am until 12 noon, with a 12 noon Mass of Christian Burial, all at Nativity BVM Cathedral. Burial will follow in Southern Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations be made to Nativity BVM Cathedral.
