Mary Lynn Bilbo Young, 77, of Ocean Springs, MS died on Sunday, January 27, 2013. Mary was born on March 26, 1935 to William Bryan and Juanita Bilbo on a farm in Fountainbleau in Jackson County, MS. She attended Belle Fountain Baptist Church which was founded by her grandfather, Walter Ray Bilbo and his two brothers in the 1880’s through Jesus Christ. Mary was a very compassionate person and a Christian woman who loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was an excellent cook and baker and she took her skills as a cook to Alaska to the remote worksite and fishing lodges in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. Mary enjoyed traveling and went to several countries in Europe and the Caribbean and she also drove the Alaskan Highway several times over. At one point, Mary and her brother, Larry owned gold claims in remote Alaska. She worked for E.R. Moore Co. and Ingalls Shipyard. Mary married Fred Browning in 1955. He was stationed at KAFB at the time. Fred died in 1960. Mary had several brothers and sisters-in-law in West Virginia where Fred Browning was from. Fred and Mary had two sons, Stanford Browning who passed away in 2009 and Tony Browning who lives in Alaska with his wife, Marion. In 1962 Mary married Ross Young. They had one son, Mike, who also lives in Alaska. Ross and Mary divorced in 1975 and Mary never married again. Mary taught Children’s Sunday School for many years at Belle Fountain Baptist Church.
Mary is preceded in death by her sister, Betty Lou Bilbo Cox; brother, Larry Bilbo; parents, William Bryan and Juanita Bilbo.
She is also survived by her brother, Leroy Bilbo; her second husband, Ross Young; aunt, Barbara Martin Keebles; uncle, Jack Martin; brother-in-law, Arnie Cox; sisters-in-law, Sharon Bilbo and Shirley Landrum Bilbo Smith; granddaughter, Chrissy Browning Pinkard; two great-granddaughters, Cameron Parker and Gracie; two nieces, Gwen Bilbo Fonteaot and Monique Bilbo Erant; nephews, Marty, Heath, Josh, Bubba and Jason Bilbo, Joey, Ricky and Jimmy Cox.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Belle Fountain Baptist Church. Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow in Belle Fountain Baptist Church Cemetery.
