Master Chief Edward E. Winborne, USN Retired, age 73, of Vancleave, MS., died Sunday, April 17, 2011, in Ocean Springs, MS. Mr. Winborne was a native of Columbia, MS. and a coast resident since 1974. He retired from the US Navy as an E-9. He was a member of the Gulf Coast Seventh Day Adventist Church and retired from First Chemical in Pascagoula, MS. He was preceded in death by his parents, Erold Winborne and Sue Hathorne Winborne. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Ellen Winborne, daughter, Diane Steele, two sons, Robert Winborne and David (Denise) Winborne, mother-in-law, Mattie F. Lambert, seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Visitation will be on Thursday, April 21, 2011, from 11 am until 12 noon, with a 12 noon Memorial Service, all at the Gulf Coast Seventh Day Adventist Church in Biloxi, MS. Burial will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials be made to the Gulf Coast Seventh Day Adventist Church at 13301 Hwy 67, Biloxi, MS. 39532. The Vancleave Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
