Mathilde Lynn Munn

Mathilde Lynn Munn, 76 of Vancleave, MS passed away on Monday, October 16, 2023.

She was born on August 2, 1947 in Lake Charles, LA to Carl and Ina Marie Strickland. She graduated from Bogalusa High School Class of 1965. She attended Southeastern Louisiana University. She was a part of the Gautier Friends of the Library and wrote a weekly column for the local paper. She worked for the Pascagoula School District as the Gautier Jr. High Assistant Librarian and Guidance Clerk, Pascagoula High Vocational Center as an Administrative Assistant, and College Park Elementary as an Attendance Clerk. She took pride in guiding and mentoring young people in all of the schools where she worked. In her personal life, she enjoyed arranging furniture at everyone’s house, landscaping and interior designing (ie. assigning chores for Charlie and Jesse), spending time with her grandchildren, watching Drew Brees on TV, reading, solving word puzzles, playing jeopardy, and spelling words for and giving Charlie geography lessons.

Mathilde was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Ina Strickland; and sibling, Carol Poirier.

She is survived by her husband of fifty-seven years, Charlie Munn; daughter, Leslie (Clay) Leyser; son, Keith (Lori) Munn; and four grandchildren, Austin (Elise) Munn, Elizabeth Ann Munn, Hayes Dennehy Leyser, and Sarah Grace Munn.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mathilde’s memory may be made to St. Jude’s.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Ocean Springs, MS. Friends may visit and celebrate her life with a light brunch from 11:00am until service time. Burial will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park.
