Mrs. Maxine Olive Mitchell, 70, of St. Martin, died Monday, March 3, 2008, in Ocean Springs. Mrs. Mitchell was born in Polk, Nebraska and had been a longtime resident of the Gulf Coast. She formerly worked at Keesler Air Force Base and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by her husband, John Mitchell; sister, Irene Avery, and a brother, Lester Marsden. Survivors include her daughter, Barbara (Pete) Massey of Biloxi; sons, Lester (Maureen) Mitchell of Vancleave, Glenn (Karla) Mitchell of Mobile, AL, and Gary Mitchell of Las Vegas, NV; sister, Marge (Harold) Hartman of Lincoln, NE brothers, Joe (RaeJeanne) Marsden of Stromsburg, NE, and Lyle (Marsy) Marsden of Lincoln, NE; eleven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, March 6, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in D'Iberville where friends may visit one hour before service time. Interment will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to the American Diabetes Association, 16 Northtown Drive, Suite 100, Jackson, MS 39211. Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Howard Ave., in Biloxi is in charge of services.
