Melvin Louis Barnes, known as “Country”, passed away on October 21, 2021 in Spring, TX at the age of 49.
Melvin was born on January 1, 1972 in Laurel, MS and was a longtime resident of Gulfport, MS. He attended Gulfport High School and Harrison Central Career and Technical Center. He moved to Spring, TX in 2015 where he resided for 7 years. Melvin was a welder supervisor who enjoyed cooking for his staff and he also worked at Harris County Toll Road Authority where he built toll booths. During his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, basketball, cooking, dancing, and spending time with his family. He will be remembered as the life of the party.
Melvin was preceded in death by his fathers, Larry Hubbard and Lee Edward Keys.
Survivors include his loving wife, Marcey Barnes; mother, Willie Mae Keys; children, Marcus Keys, Melvin Malone, and Melvin Barnes; step-daughters, Nivea McCollum and Mirakle Clayton; grandsons, Keaunu, Kyden, and Sakhya; granddaughters, Ryann, Yua, Caitlyn, and Malayah; siblings, Lee Marvin Keys, Michael Lee Keys, and Marilyn Marie Keys; and his dog, Legend/Buddy.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 29, 2021 and funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 30, 2021 all at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport. Procession will follow to Gulf Pines Memorial Gardens in Long Beach. Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport is honored to serve the Barnes family.
