Major Menno Ronald Saunders, U.S. Air Force, Ret. age 90, of Ocean Springs, MS., died Tuesday, July 6, 2010, in Ocean Springs.
Mr. Saunders was born in Canton, South Dakota on February 21, 1920. He graduated from the University of South Dakota where he received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1949 and his Masters in Business and Audit General from the Air Force University at Wright-Patterson AFB, Dayton, Ohio. He was a veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict and retired as a Major in the Air Force after 25 years of service. He then worked for the Dept. of Commerce in Washington D.C. for fourteen years, then started his own business as a CPA in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. Upon retiring in 1986 he moved to Ocean Springs, Mississippi.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Mary Mitchell Saunders and Lavon Holbrook.
Survivors include his children, Ronald (Amy) Saunders, Theresa Stuart, David (Betsy) Saunders, and Kathleen (Robert "Skip") Ordahl, step-children, Richard (Mary) Holbrook, Geraldine (John) Bond, Frances (Earl) Schubert, Maurveen Jarrett, and Cheryl Holbrook, sisters, Donna (Fred) Cusack and Lorraine Rudnick, grandchildren, Allie, C.J. and Erin Saunders, Mary and Sam Ordahl, Thomas and Sabine Saunders, and Amy (Michael) Clifford, and great-grandchildren, Rebeccah Keenum and Erin Clifford.
Visitation will be on Friday, July 9, 2010, from 5 pm until 8 pm, with a 7 pm Rosary, at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. On Saturday, July 10, 2010, there will be a 10:30 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, where friends may visit from 9:30 am until 10:30 am. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Ocean Springs.
