Michael Ray Darbey II, age 32, passed away on December 8, 2021 in Gulfport, MS. Michael was originally from Aberdeen, MD but, became a longtime resident of Gulfport. Affectionately called “Darbey”, he graduated from Harrison Central High School and made a name for himself on the football field. Michael was employed with Mighty Men Movers as a team lead and a driver. He loved football (a secret Cowboys fan), bowling, and fishing. Michael also had a passion for his music and his “Darbey” finesse. Michael was preceded in death by his father, Michael Ray Darbey, and his grandmother, Bettie Smith. Michael is survived by his mother, Charlotte A. McLaurin of Gulfport; his beloved daughters, Aliya Mariana Darbey (12) and Ariya Marlei Darbey (8); son, Ralyn Newbury (4); sisters, Tearshia Barrow (Darbey) of Beltsville, MD, Shannon Darbey, Chanel Darbey; brothers, Terry “J.W.” McLaurin of Gulfport, Orlando McLaurin, and Avery Darbey; nephews, Kendal Barrow KII (8) and Davion Jackson (4); former spouse, Alexis K. Jackson (Darbey) of Gulfport; his personal friend, Antoinette Francine; and best friend, Kendal Barrow. His presence will be missed dearly by many, but we take comfort in knowing although absent from the body he is present with the Lord. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to friends, family, classmates, and their spiritual family at Northwood Church in Gulfport. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 16, 2021, at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, O'Neal Rd in Gulfport. Friends may visit an hour prior.
