Michael J. Pickich, Sr.

Pass Christian native son Michael (Mike) J. Pickich, Sr. left this world in the early morning hours of Saturday, December 17, 2011, at his home in Pass Christian surrounded by his loving family. He dearly loved his family, his friends and his Lord. His community will miss his smiles and easy laughs for a very long time. Mike worked for North American Rockwell in the early years of NASA’s Stennis Space Center, which was followed by several years at Ingalls Shipbuilding. He joined the US Postal Service in 1988 and became a mail carrier, a job he loved and often said he would only retire from when he had to, which happened in early 2011. He is predeceased by his parents Shannon P. Pickich, Sr., and Dora Ellen Hanson Pickich; brother Shannon P. Pickich, Jr.; and father-in-law Elliott McDonald Jr. With many good memories, he leaves behind his beloved wife of 41 years, Janice McDonald Pickich, and two sons, Michael J. Pickich, Jr. and Arthur E. Pickich; his brothers, Tom (Laura McDonald) Pickich and Steve Pickich; as well as nieces and nephews. He also leaves much-loved in-laws Phyllis McDonald, Elliott McDonald III, Jimmy McDonald, Nancy Purchner, Candace (and Randy) Perniciaro, and numerous friends. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2011, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. prior to a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon at Holy Family Catholic Church in Pass Christian. Interment will follow at Live Oak Cemetery in Pass Christian. The family requests that donations be made to St. Vincent de Paul at the Catholic church of your choice. Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 15th St. in Gulport is in charge of arrangements.
