Michael Lynn Miller

Michael Lynn Miller, II, was taken to Heaven by a host of God’s angels on Thursday, August 9, 2012, after a long, hard battle with cancer. Mike was born at Ft. Devens, Massachusetts on August 12, 1968, and spent his entire life in Biloxi, Mississippi. Mike was a 1987 graduate of Biloxi High School. He was married to his loving and caring wife, Claudia Cross Miller, for 17 years. Mike was the Manager of West Marine in Biloxi and worked for West Marine for 23 years. Mike loved his work along with the many customers and friends he worked with there. Mike earned several national awards from West Marine for his accomplishments in management. He was very dedicated to his West Marine family and had friends all over the country in the company that he communicated with often. Mike was very involved in community activities and always stood ready to help in sponsoring community events. He always had a sincere smile and a warm greeting for everyone he met. Mike’s big, happy smile will be greatly missed by many friends and customers from the coast that helped him fight the battle with cancer over the past months. Mike had undergone a heart transplant when he was 19 and always lived every day of his life as a second chance and a true gift from God. He was a family man and will be missed very much by his family and his many dear friends. Mike reminded people who visited him at home and in the hospital that God had given him 24 wonderful years of life after his heart transplant and how much he appreciated it. We thank God for the many years he shared Mike with us. He is survived by his loving wife, Claudia Cross Miller, his beautiful daughters, Mackenzie Lynn Miller and Lanie Elizabeth Miller, his parents, Mike and Donna Miller of Mobile, AL., his brother, Gregory Sean Miller and his wife, Michelle Miller of Abbeyville, AL, his devoted and caring mother-in-law, Norma Cross, and his sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Cross Ladner and her husband, Marty D. Ladner of Lizana, Meredith Broussard of Saucier, Carol Cross Stone of Longview, TX,, brothers-in-law T.J. Cross of Biloxi, and Todd Cross of Pass Christian, and many nieces and nephews that loved their Uncle Mike very much. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: American Cancer Society Patrick F. Taylor Hope Lodge, 2609 River Road, New Orleans, LA 70121. Visitation will be held at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will begin at 5:00 p.m.
