Michael Stephen Mayfield

Michael Stephen Mayfield, Sr. of Ocean Springs, returned to the Lord peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, October 2, 2005, at 2:30 AM. He was born on May 23, 1951, in Biloxi, MS. Michael is of the Catholic faith and attended Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic School. He was a 1969 graduate of Notre Dame High School in Biloxi and attended Perkinston Junior College. Michael was employed with Trilby's restaurant for 19 years and at Jocelyn's restaurant from 1982 until 1994. He had a passion for flying and was a licensed pilot. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Diane Brown-Mayfield, of Ocean Springs, daughter, Melinda (Patrick) Hill of Douglasville, Georgia, son, Michael S. Mayfield, Jr., of Ocean Springs, grandson, Alan Chase Hill, of Douglasville, Georgia, his parents, Harold and Joicelyn Mayfield of Ocean Springs, two brothers, Richard Mayfield of Houston, TX., and Harold (Huffy) Mayfield of Ocean Springs, three sisters, Marcia Mayfield of Daphne, AL., Francine (Winston) Smith of Baton Rouge, LA., and Jocelyn Mayfield of Ocean Springs, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family and friends. The family would like to thank all of the physicians's, nurses and other healthcare professionals who provided special care during his illness. The family would also like to thank the priests, nuns, and all those who held him in their prayers. On Wednesday, October 5, there will be a 1 PM Mass of the Resurrection at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church,where friends may call from 11:30 AM until 1 PM. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Ocean Springs. The Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
