Michael Wayne "Mike" Stroud

Michael Wayne “Mike” Stroud, age 67, passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 and joined his loving wife, Laura Howard Stroud on God’s next journey.

Mike was born on October 29, 1956 in Belleville, IL. He was a member of the catholic faith. He always enjoyed his Sunday dinners with his sister, Melissa Stroud D’Angelo. Mike spent a lot of his free time enjoying his boat and hours of fishing. When returning home, his two puppies, Maggie and Duke, were always so glad to see him and he to see them. They filled a void he had in his life.

Mike was a graduate of Gulfport East High School and he served in the U.S. Coast Guard. After graduating from the University of Southern Mississippi, Mike began his career in law enforcement with the Gulfport Police Department and retired from the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department. Once Mike retired, he continued to work at the Armed Forces Retirement Home, Island View Casino, and Memorial Hospital at Gulfport. He was proud of his career in law enforcement for which he received several commendations.

Mike was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Howard Stroud; parents, Everett and Helen Stroud; and brother-in-law, Jimmy D’Angelo.

He is survived by his loving sister, Melissa D’Angelo and his dogs, Maggie and Duke.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at a later date. Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport is honored to serve the family of Mike Stroud.

Melissa would like to thank the Church on the Coast for all the prayers and thanks to the pastor, Anthony Miller, for praying over Mike. Also, a special thank you to Deacon Dick Henderson for the daily visits with Mike. So many to add – Thanks to all of you for your support and love.
