Michele Hale

Michele Hale, 55, of Ocean Springs, MS died Monday, October 10, 2011 at her home known to most as the House of Hale, in Mississippi. Michele was born April 24, 1956 in Jackson, Mississippi. She studied abroad in Europe, as well as at Millsaps in Jackson. Proprietor of The Secret Garden, founder of the Shih Tzu Nation of downtown, and mother to the Ocean Springs Renaissance Festival. She was known as Michele to most, Moose to some, but a friendly familiar face to all who crossed paths with her. Michele spent more than 20 years in Ocean Springs contributing endlessly to the community. You may remember her by her natural inner beauty or remarkable fashion statements, but all who loved her remember her for her capability to nurture. There is no denying Michele's all-knowing love for flowers. She has planted a garden in each and every one of us that will continue to flourish and bloom for years to come. Michele enjoyed cooking for everyone around her, fishing, skiing, diving into a good book and filling her soul with classical music. Michele also enjoyed taking part in her beloved church, St. John's. She had a creative knack that could make anything enchanting. Michele has sown the seed of so many wonderful things throughout the community, her strong roots will continue to hold us close, and may the memory of her continue to inspire others forever. Michele was preceded in death by her mother, Jean. Survivors include her husband and best friend of 22 years, Michael; daughter and creative partner in crime, Haven; beloved son-in-law, Joshee; granddaughter, Harbour; father, Joe; brother, Mark; Shih tzu son, Sir William Shakespeare; and grand dog, Mango. Visitation will be on Thursday, October 13 at 9 am followed by a service at 10 am at St. John's Episcopal Church in Ocean Springs. The Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
