Mr. Miguel A. Lawrence, 70, of North Biloxi died Sunday, August 27, 2006 in Biloxi. Miguel was born in Biloxi and lived in the St. Martin community for 51 years. A U.S. Navy Veteran having served in the Korean Conflict. His best cruise in the Navy was to cross the equator going to Australia. His ship was the representative of the U.S. for the Olympics and all the sailors got to go to all the events. Miguel worked at Mississippi Chemical (Mississippi Phosphate) for 42 years. Miguel was a member of the Scared Heart Catholic Church, long time member of the Sunkist Country Club, life member of D'Iberville Community Club, and belonged to the St. Martin Booster Club. He coached Dixie Youth Baseball. He played on the U.S. Navy fast pitch softball team and also played on local teams in Biloxi. Miguel was an avid golfer and loved being with his golfing buddies. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed fishing and dancing. Miguel loved all sports and loved most of all being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Miguel was preceded in death by his parents Edward "Yetta" and Bertha Fountain Lawrence, sister Bertha Ann Distefano and brother Edward Lawrence, Jr. Miguel is survived by his wife of 51 years, Patsy Richard Lawrence; two sons, Miguel A. Lawrence, Jr. and Aaron Lawrence and his wife Cindy all of Biloxi; four grandchildren, Miguel A. Lawrence III and his wife Rachel, Ariane Lawrence Graham and her husband John, Tara Lawrence, and Aaron Lawrence II; three great-grandchildren, Jorden Lawrence, Caden Graham and Madison Mitchell; three brothers, Robert "Bobby" Lawrence and his wife Alice of Ocean Springs, Kevin Lawrence and his wife Audrey of Asheville, NC and Jerry Wayne Lawrence of Biloxi. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at 11 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in D'Iberville where friends may visit from 10 A.M. until service time. Burial to follow in Groue Cemetery. Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
