Mike Michaelson

d. June 3, 2024

Biloxi

Charles Reid Michaelson, affectionately known as Mike, went to meet Jesus face to face on Monday
morning June 3, 2024, peacefully in his home in Biloxi, MS.
Born to Anna Lee and Charles Reid Michaelson on July 2, 1948. Mike was blessed to have two sets of
parents that loved him. He was adopted and raised by Jean and Denver Saunders due to the death of
his father and an illness that had his Mother Anna quarantined.
Mike was very proud to have been born in Charleston, West “By God” Virginia, where he completed high
school and some college.
His career was marked by dedication and excellence; he worked as an international outside salesman for
Branham Corporation for 30+ years.
Mike’s life was one of active engagement with the world around him. He loved to hunt, fish, golf, and
garden. He loved to cook, BBQ, and boil crawfish and shrimp.
Mike was a Ministry Leader for Celebrate Recovery. He helped and mentored many people through his
testimony of God’s goodness and mercy in his own life.
He loved his church and church family. He was saved and raised in Destiny Church of Woolmarket
where he met the love of his life, Susan Alves. They married there and started their journey with the
Lord. They moved to Houston, TX., and attended Second Baptist North together for eight years.
They moved back to MS. Together, they joined Vancleave Worship Center and became Ministry Leaders
for Celebrate Recovery. Mike was also a board member and deacon of the church. He sure does love
the Lord.
Predeceased by his parents, his brother Troy Lee Cunningham, and his most beloved son Beau
Michaelson.
Mike’s legacy is carried on by his loving wife, Susan; his most precious daughter Heather Marie
Michaelson, his stepchildren, Jessica and Ben Speight, PJ and Brittany Martino, and Ryan Martino; his
adored grandchildren, Zoe, Violet, and Ethan. His sister and brother-in-law Jessie Ann and Terry
Wonycott and nephews; brother and sister-in-law Steven and Lisa Benson, and nieces and nephew.
He cherished his mother-in-law Mary Sue Taranto.
His friends, colleagues, and especially his beloved dog Sadie will feel his absence.
