Mildred 'Mit" Keel, 75 of Pass Christian, died Wednesday, December 28, 2005 in New Orleans. She was born in Picayune, grew up in Kentwood, LA and had been a resident of Pass Christian for 55 years. Mrs. Keel was completely devoted to her family and friends. She was a writer, a poet, a publisher, and founder of "Southern Poetry Association." Her many articles, poems, and short stories have appeared in publications such as Readers Digest and popular women's magazines. She was once a writer for the Daily Herald where she wrote articles concerning Pass Christian news and information.
Mrs. Keel was preceded in death by her mother, Zora Irene Stewart Klyce and father, Thomas Newton Klyce, Sr.; brother, Thomas Newton Klyce, Jr.; and two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Lee Ellar McNabb, and Mrs. Willie Mae "Sis" Sanders.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Carl E. Keel of Pass Christian; two daughters, Kim Keel, and Kay Keel Hilbun and husband, Bennie, all of Pass Christian; four sons, Mike Keel and wife, Cathy, Marty Keel, Matt Keel and wife, Dee Dee, all of Pass Christian, and Randy Keel and wife, Lisa of Diamondhead; twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Keel was a member of the Congregation of Jehovah's Christian Witnesses.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, January 8, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Daughtery Road, Long Beach, MS.
