Mildred "Millie" Matthews

Mildred "Millie" Matthews, 90, of Gulfport died Thursday, August 11, 2005 in Mobile, AL. Mrs. Matthews was born in New Orleans, LA and had been a resident of Gulfport for over fifty years. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church and St. John Altar Society. She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. "Jack" Matthews, Sr; a son, John R. "Jack" Matthews, Jr; and a grandson, John R. Matthews, III. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Peggy Matthews Ross and her husband, Steve of Mobile; a son, Charles B. Matthews and his wife, Sally Joyce of Daphne, AL; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Friday evening August 12, 2005 from 6 until 9 p.m. with the Rosary Service at 7:30 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church, Gulfport, where friends may visit an hour before the Mass. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Gulfport. The family prefers memorials to the Alzheimer's Foundation of the South Mississippi Division, 4803 Harrison Circle, Gulfport, MS 39507.
