Mildred N. Atchison

Mildred N. Atchison, age 90 of Ocean Springs, died Saturday February 4, 2006 in Ocean Springs. Mrs. Atchison was born March 24, 1915 in Pennsylvania and was the daughter of the late Charles and Susie Miller. Before marrying a Moss Point native, William Atchison, and moving to Mississippi in 1957, she worked at the Washington Naval Yard for 20 years. After moving to Mississippi, she joined St. Paul United Methodist Church and was an active member for over 40 years. She was a volunteer at the Ocean Springs Hospital and the Senior Citizens Center. She not only talked the talk, but she walked the walk. Mrs. Atchison will be greatly missed by all. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William F. Atchison, and ten brothers and sisters. She is survived by one son, Charles (Dortha) Durso of Ocean Springs, two daughters, Shirley (Robert) Kapture of Claremont, CA, and Marie (Wes) Elmendorf of Nichols, SC, eleven grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 12:45 pm on Tuesday, February 7, 2006 at St. Paul United Methodist Church on Porter St. in Ocean Springs. Friends may visit from 12:00 noon until service time. Burial will be at Biloxi National Cemetery. The Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of services.
