Miles Scott Plaisance, a new guardian angel earned his wings today with the death of our beloved husband, father, son, brother, and uncle. He was born November 1, 1960, went to join our Heavenly Father on June 20, 2008 after a strong battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his step-father Grover “Red” Bowers, his maternal grandparents, Edward Triche and Marceline Arceneaux Friche, and his paternal grandparents Sidney Plaisance and Armentine Matherne Plaisance who were there to welcome their loved one home. Scott leaves behind to cherish precious memories, his wife of 24 years, Lucile Elizabeth Hart Plaisance, his daughters, Teri, Kali, and Jami; his mother, Gloria Triche Bowers, his father and step-mother, Leroy E. and Joyce Plaisance, sister, Cynthia L. Best, aunts and uncles, Earl P. Triche and wife Judy, Lorena Matherne, Caroldene LaBlanc, Maldonia Dominque, Cecile Arceneaux, Lawrence Plaisance, Junior Plaisance, Errance Plaisance, and Raymond Plaisance as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Scott’s love of flying led to a 20 years 6 months career as a F16 crew chief with the United States Air Force, retiring in 2000 with the rank of Staff Sergeant. During his time in the Air Force he was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Air Force Achievement Medal and Ribbon, the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, the Air Force Organizational Excellence Award, the Air Force Good Conduct Medal, the Air Force Overseas Short Tour Ribbon, the Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon, the Air Force Training Ribbon, the National Defense Service Medal and Ribbon, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and Ribbon, the Humanitarian Service Medal and Ribbon, the NCO Professional Military Education Graduation Ribbon, the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, and the Good Conduct Medal. He continued in this field after retirement in the civilian sector working for Bank Air and Eagle Aviation. Scott extended this love of flying to his hobby of building and flying remote control airplanes and helicopters. He was a member of the South Congaree Flyers. Scott was a member and Past Master of Hillcrest Lodge #397 in Dalzell, SC and a member and Past Worthy Patron of Hillcrest Chapter #263 Order of the Eastern Star in Dalzell, SC. He was a member of Shandon Baptist Church in Columbia, South Carolina. Pallbearers will be Daniel Hart, David Hart, Stephen Hart, Christopher Best, Christopher Powell, and Daniel Mullen. Honorary pallbearers will be Eric Mullen and Kevin Mullen. In lieu of lowers the family requests donations in Scott’s memory to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at 1:30 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Howard Avenue, in Biloxi where friends may visit from 12 noon until service time. Interment will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery with Military Honors and Masonic Rites. :
