Mitchell Sevel, Jr., age 87, of D'Iberville passed away at his home in D'Iberville, Wednesday, January 13, 2010.
He was born in Biloxi and was a lifelong resident of the Gulf Coast. He was a retired fisherman and owner of Family Seafood in Gulfport and manager of Boat Fresh Seafood in Gulfport. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army and was the recipient of The Purple Heart. He was Methodist. "Uncle Mitchell" was a mentor to many people throughout his entire life on the Gulf Coast.
Mr. Sevel was preceded in death by his parents, Mitchell Sevel, Sr. and Lovenia Melvin Sevel; sisters, Mary Albertine Sevel, Margaret Ernestine May, Irma Monroe, Florence Hickson; wives, Lucille Lanier Sevel and Dorothy DeRouen Sevel; and a niece, Bonnie Titus.
He is survived by his wife, Earlene Sevel; sons, Michael Sevel (Pam), Tommy Sevel (Kathy), and Mitchell G. Sevel;
daughters, Carol McCall (Mac), Renee' Sevel Walker, (Mark), Michelle Kidd (Jimmy); grand-children, Natalie Holcomb (Myles), Amy Stewart (Ruben), Ashley Kidd, James Kidd, III, Marie Farmer (Rodney), Irma Sevel, Carol Ann Sevel, Michael Sevel, Stacey Sevel; great-
grandchildren Mitchell and Nicklous Dolde, Ruben Stewart, Myles Holcomb, and Hailey Farmer.
The funeral service will be held Monday, January 18, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport where friends may visit from 11:00 A.M. until the service. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Gulfport
