Mona Laverne Wallen

Mona Laverne Wallen, age 90, of Vancleave, passed away on Friday, August 18, 2023. 

Mrs. Wallen graduated high school from Okmulgee High School in Okmulgee, OK, but she was a long-time resident of the MS Gulf Coast. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Vancleave. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great- grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her. 

Mrs. Wallen is preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Lucile Poe; and siblings, Ellen Khan, Raymond Poe and Kenneth Poe. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Wallen, Sr. 

Survivors include her children; Leonard Wallen, Jr and wife, Sarah, Cynthia Crow, and Mark Wallen and wife, Marilyn; and brother, Leonard Poe. Also, 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. 

Mona loved to garden, crochet, raise flowers and study the Bible. She brought joy to all who knew her and will continue to make us smile with memories of her.

Funeral Services will be held at First Baptist Church of Vancleave on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 12:00 pm. Friends may visit from 11:00 am until service time. Interment will follow at Vancleave #1 Cemetery.
