Monroe F. Cuevas, Jr., age 78, of Ocean Springs, MS., died Sunday, July 31, 2011, in Houston, TX.
Monroe Cuevas was a native of Bay St. Louis, MS. and a resident of Ocean Springs for 50 years. He graduated from St. Stanislaus College in Bay St. Louis and USM in Hattiesburg. He was a member of the VFW in Biloxi, the Holy Cross Mission, Biloxi Yacht Club and BPOE # 606. He served in the US Navy and retired as a Senior Chemist from Ingalls Shipbuilding.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Monroe F. Cuevas, Sr. and Margaret Oakley Fayard Cuevas and two brothers, Donald Cuevas and Lloyd A. Cuevas.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Graciela Villalobos Cuevas, three daughters, Michele Cuevas (Arnaldo) Martinez, Denise (Angel Caillavet) Cuevas and Monica Cuevas (Darren) Grumme, a sister, Rose Marie (Arlin) Schaap, three brothers, Milton J. Cuevas, Irvin T. Cuevas and Vincent (Sharon) Cuevas, and six grandchildren, Victor Joseph Martinez, Kirsten Marie Martinez, Joshua Francis Grumme, Joel Matthias Grumme, Jonah Sebastian Grumme, and Vincent Hansen Grumme.
Visitation will be on Friday, August 5, 2011, from 10 am until 11 am, with a 11 am Mass, all at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Crestlawn Memorial Park.
