Mr. Albert Alexander Price III, age 87, of Ocean Springs, MS., died Monday, December 5, 2005, in Ocean Springs. He was born January 14, 1918, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Upon graduation from Pennsylvania State University in May, 1942, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant Infantry, ROTC. His military record was outstanding, having served in World War II, European Theater of Operations, Occupation Japan, Korea, Occupation Germany and stateside assignments. He was awarded numerous military decorations for his service to his country. Upon retirement from the United States Army, Col. Price represented the March of Dimes for the southern 42 counties of Mississippi. He and his family moved to Ocean Springs in 1963. For 18 years he was the PGA golf professional at Keesler Air Force Base and became a Life and Quarter Century Club member of the Professional Golfers Association of America. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and St. John's Episcopal Church in Ocean Springs. He was the primary health care person for his wife, Mary Louise, a former Mississippi Women's Golf Champion, for over 13 years. His devotion and responsibility for Mary Louise, who preceded him in death in 2002, was remarkable. He left no stone unturned in his around-the-clock caring. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his son, William Gary "Billy" Price, II, parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Stanley Price, and two brothers, Jean Shepherd Price and William Stanley Price, Jr. He is survived by his three daughters, Terry (Joey) Fountain of Ocean Springs, Sherry Anne Price of Pensacola, FL., and Jan (Jim) Johnson of Ft. Lauderdale, FL., his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Penny Price of Pensacola, FL., four grandchildren, Kate (Greg) English of Ocean Springs, Amy Price and Alex Price, both of Pensacola, FL., and Laurel Johnson of Ft. Lauderdale, FL., three great-grandchildren, Mary Howell English, Grayson Haddox English and McCarty Price English, all of Ocean Springs, MS., and one brother, the Reverend Gary K. Price of Wales, Maine. On Saturday, December 10, 2005, there will be a 3:30 PM memorial service at St. John's Episcopal Church in Ocean Springs. Friends may visit with the family prior to the service between 2:30 PM and 3:15 PM in the church parish hall. The Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
