Mr. Leslie Byrd, Jr.

Leslie Byrd, Jr., 80, of the Latimer Community, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, April 23, 2008. Leslie was born in the Larue Community and remained a lifelong resident of Jackson County. He retired from Blossman Gas Company after 37 years. Leslie was a member of White Plains United Methodist Church. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who was passionate about his family and church. Leslie is preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Bilbo Byrd and his father, Leslie Byrd, Sr., stepmother, Ethel Cates Byrd and brother, Virgil Byrd. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Marie Byrd of Latimer, daughters, Ruth Boney (Bobby) of Latimer, Merita Boney (James) of Latimer, son, Dale Byrd (Karla) of Latimer, sister, Rebecca Fore (Arlin) of Wiggins. Survivors also include 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren. Visitation is Thursday, April 24, 2008 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Service will be Friday, April 25, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. Both will take place at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes, Biloxi.
