Mrs. Patricia Streiff Joachim of Biloxi, died Saturday, April 2, 2005, She was 83 years old. Mrs. Joachim, the great great granddaughter of Fridolin Streiff, founder of the Swiss Colony of New Glarus, Wisconsin was born in Freeport, Illinois on June 6, 1921. The Streiff family relocated to Gulfport when Patricia was only six. She graduated from Gulfport High School where she was a member of the commodorettes, the school dance team. She was also a graduate of Miss Porter's Secretarial School. Patricia was formerly employed by Fasold Jewelers and by the Mississippi Power Company. As a young adult, Patricia pursued her favorite pastime of sailing as a member of the Gulfport Yacht Club. She was one of their most active skipperettes. Later in life she was a member of the Biloxi Yacht Club. Always active and vivacious, Patricia was involved in several business, civic and social organizations throughout her live. She was one of the first members of Les Femmes Carnival Organization. In addition, Patricia served as president of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority as well as president of Biloxi Business and Professional Women's Club. Patricia married her devoted husband, Harry J. Joachim, in 1947 and dedicated her life to being a successful homemaker. Her activities outside her home were mostly based on her children and her husband. She was a member of Nativity BVM parish. In later years she enjoyed traveling with her husband, keeping her yard and the companay of her pets. Her parents, William A. and Teresa M. Streiff, preceded Patricia in death as did three brothers; William M. Streiff and Cuthbert J. Streiff, both of Gulfport and Richard F. Streiff of Ft. Meyers, Florida. She is survived by her loving husband of fifty-seven years, Harry J. Joachim; daughters, Patricia A. Joachim, Cynthia S. Joachim and Cheryl T. Joachim all of Biloxi; sons, Harry B. Joachim of Biloxi and Robert S. Joachim and his wife, Brynn, of D'Iberville. Survivors also include two grandsons, "Harry" Joel Joachim and Kellen C. Joachim along with their mother, Gail Joachim, all of Biloxi; a brother, Robert P. Streiff and his wife, Carol, of Houston, Texas and several nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 12 noon Wednesday, April 6, 2005, at the Nativity B.V.M. Catholic Cathedral where friends may visit from 10 a.m. till service time. Interment will follow in Southern Memorial Park. Those wishing to convey condolences may make a contribution in Patricia's name to the Harrison County Humane Society, 13756 Washington Avenue, Gulfport, MS 39507.
