Willard Allen Lockett, 93, of Biloxi, died on Saturday, June 11, 2005 in Biloxi. Mrs. Lockett was born in Memphis, TN on August 14, 1911, and came to Biloxi in August, 1929, as the bride of Lester Lunn Lockett. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church, Biloxi, where for many years, she served as teacher and pianist in the seven year old Sunday School Department, was active in the WMU, and served as church organist. For twelve years she was secretary and office manager at Biloxi High School. Mrs. Lockett was given a Lifetime Membership in the Dogwood Garden Club. Since 1935, she has been a member of P. E. O. being initiated into Chapter A, and a member of Chapter D since its organization in 1948. She was president of Chapter A once and of Chapter D three times. Mrs. Lockett attended Memphis Public Schools and Memphis State University. She was predeceased by her husband, her parents, Franklin P. and Jessie Robinson Allen, of Memphis, and a brother, Robert F. Allen of Charlotte, N.C. She is survived by children Robert Lester & Jackie Lockett of Biloxi, and James Franklin & Margaret Lockett of Jackson, MS; five grandchildren, Mrs. Kimberly Harkins of Folsom, CA; Steven Lockett of Orange County CA; Mrs. Rebecca Young of Columbus, MS; Mrs. Mary Burcham of Ridgeland, MS; James Daniel Lockett of Hattiesburg, MS; and nine great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 AM on Monday, June 13, 2005 at the Howard Avenue chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home in Biloxi with funeral services to follow immediately at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Biloxi Cemetery. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Biloxi Building Fund or to any of the P. E. O. projects.
