Ms. Annie Christine "Chris" Bankston

Ms. Annie Christine “Chris” Bankston, age 81, of Gulfport, passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2023.

Ms. Chris was born on December 24, 1941, to parents, Cecil Edgar and Annie E. Boone Robinson. She was born in Atoka, OK but was raised between Oklahoma and Texas. She married her first husband, Leroy Bryant, in 1960, moved to the coast, and had five daughters. They later divorced and she married Francis Roy Bankston, Jr. in 1975 and had two sons. She traveled back and forth but made the coast her home with her children. Ms. Chris worked in the Pass Christian garment factory. She later worked as a nursing assistant at Driftwood Nursing Home. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, quilting, the outdoors, playing slots and bingo, fishing and camping, Wheel of Fortune, playing Yahtzee, and watching the kids play sports. Ms. Chris will be ever missed by her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil Edgar Robinson and Annie Ethel Boone Robinson; daughter, Pamela Dale Bryant; brothers, Joe Bill Robinson, Robert D. Robinson, Marshall Bo Robinson, and Dan Cecil Robinson; sisters, Dorothy Jean Ogle, Mary Fugate, and Elizabeth Kaye Eastep; her first husband, Leroy Bryant; and her second husband Francis Roy Bankston, Jr.

Survivors include her sons, Francis Roy Bankston III (Jennifer) and Stephen Bankston (Kristy); daughters, Theresa Bryant Morales (John), Nora Bryant Gebhart (Ray), Melinda Bryant Johnson, Marquitta Bryant Walker (Peter), and Amy Bryant Tatus (Julio); 25 grandchildren; brothers, Thomas J. Robinson, Larry Robinson (Sue), and Jerry Robinson (Bonnie); and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, October 13, 2023, at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home 15^th Street Chapel. Friends may visit one hour before. Interment will follow at Long Beach Cemetery.
