Nell Fortenberry Cody, passed away on July 17, 2007, at the age of 86 in Gulfport, MS.
She was a native of Columbia, MS. She and her late husband, Fred L. Cody were the owners of Cody's Electric and Refrigeration for many years.
After retiring from Marion County Hospital as a LPN, she moved to the coast and lived in Long Beach for fifteen years and later resided at Carlow Manor Senior Apartments in Gulfport.
She has been a resident of Lakeview Nursing Center for the past four years and enjoyed the excellent care anf love given to her by Dr. Blanks and the staff at Lakeview.
Mrs. Cody was a Charter member of Calvary Baptist Church in Columbia, MS but moved her membership to Bel Aire Baptist when she moved to the coast.
Mrs. Cody was the daughter of the late Hope and Dollie Bell Fortenberry.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Pauline Cofield, Sarah Alice Houston, Eula Lee Rayborn, Henrietta Ashley and brothers Carroll and Joe Fortenberry.
Surviors include her children, Mrs. Jerry Coleman ( Elizabeth) of Collins, MS; Louise Cody Hathorn of Gulfport, MS and Clayton Allen Cody (Lisa) of Meridian, MS; one sister; Mrs. Elizabeth Von Pingel of Ridgeland, MS and brother Harroll Fortenberry of Augusta, Ga; six grandchildren, Jerry Warren Coleman, of Laurel, Ms, Dwayne Coleman of Little Rock, AR, Justin Hathorn of Gulfport, MS; Marlena Orillion of Gulfport, MS; and Amanda and Jennifer Cody of Meridian, MS.
Private visitation will be on Thursday, July 19, 2007 at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, O'Neal Road, Gulfport, MS folllowed by a graveside prayer at Columbia Cemetery in Columbia, Ms.
