Mrs. Nella Hebert, 75, of Biloxi, MS, died Sunday, July 29, 2007, at home surrounded by her family.
Born in Baskin, LA, she was a longtime resident of the coast and a member of the First Baptist Church of Biloxi, the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary and the Fleur-de-Lis Ladies Auxiliary. Arriving in Biloxi in 1949, she embarked on a long career in the hospitality industry beginning with the Rivera and six months later Sie Simons sought her out to work for him at his popular "Sie's Place". She worked for Sie until his retirement and later owned and operated Sie's till the late 1970's. After closing Sie's she worked at the Factory Restaurant, Baricevs, and the Biloxi Bell. After her retirement she sold Mary Kay Cosmetics and organized "Sie's Place Memory Dances" with all proceeds going to a charity or worthwhile cause.
Mrs. Hebert was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Hebert; parents, Charles E. and Era Fitzgerald Kilgore; sisters, Nina Rea White and Nettie Faye Kilgore., and a brother, Harold Dee Kilgore.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia (Jack) Vines of Biloxi and Rhonda (John B.) Pearce of Baton Rouge, LA; sons, Leroy G. Hebert and his wife, Faye, Lonnie Hebert and Rick Hebert, all of Biloxi; brothers, Charles Kilgore of Okmulgee, OK and George Kilgore of Taylorsville, MS; eight grandchildren, Glenn Hebert, Mindy Hebert, Shawn Pearce, Samantha Pearce, Cory Hebert, John C. Pearce, Justin Hebert, and Miles Hebert, and two great grandchildren, Katelynn Hebert and Peyton Hebert.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 31, 2007, from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes in Biloxi. Funeral services are Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Southern Memorial Park.
