Nelldine Mary Reaux Fountain “Nelly”, 81, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Friday, February 24, 2023 in Ocean Springs, MS. Nelldine was born in Biloxi, MS on March 15, 1941 to Wilmer Joseph Reaux and Agnes Short Reaux. Nelldine attended school at Biloxi High School. Shortly thereafter, she started her career in sewing at The E.R. Moore Company where she specialized in sewing jackets. She also worked with the D’Iberville School District helping to serve lunches, and with Desporte’s Paper Company. On September 28, 1958 Nelldine married the love of her life John Fountain. Together, they went on to have two beautiful daughters.
Nelldine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She was a selfless, nurturing, generous, kind, and spunky woman. She was full of life, and never took a single day she was given for granted. Nelldine was known for her beautiful smile that would light up a room, her supportive shoulder to lean on, her listening ear, and giving heart. She always knew how to make those around her feel her love, and could brighten anyone’s day. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, going out to eat, reading her favorite books on her kindle, playing games on her iPad, solving word searches, attending church, traveling, and going to the casino to press her luck! Nelldine was a life-long faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in D’Iberville, MS, and an active member of The French Club in Biloxi, MS. She was a prior member of the Southernette Organization where she served as their President for many years, and was crowned as their first Queen in 1975.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Wilmer and Agnes Reaux; and her siblings, Gilbert (Yvonne Romero Reaux) and Theresa Reaux.
Nelldine is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, John Fountain; daughters, Teresa (Dave Daigle) and Dina Fountain; grandchildren, Rianne Jones, Roslyn (Brandon Robb), and Daniel Jones; niece, Jeannine (Jonah, Ashton, Baylor, and Christian Blum); and future great-grandchild, Nora Robb (expected in April 2023). Nelldine will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation for the loving care Nelldine received from Dr. Yashashree Bethala (staff at Biloxi Internal Medicine Clinic) and Dr. Eva Magiros over the past several years.
