Mrs. Nellie Santa Cruz Robinson, 96, of Woolmarket, passed away at home Saturday, August 23, 2008. She was born in Biloxi and lived in the Woolmarket area most of her life. She was a founding member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Woolmarket and was honored to be the oldest member. She was a retired housekeeper from Biloxi Regional Medical Center and enjoyed gardening, growing Chrysanthemums, and spending time with her grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren. Nellie was preceded in death by her parents, Adolph and Emma Quave Santa Cruz; her brothers, Pat, Delphin, Norman and Donald; sisters, Mildred, Mae and Norene Santa Cruz, Sophie Scarborough and Myrtle Robinson; her husband, Walter James Robinson, Sr.; son, Walter James Robinson, Jr.; grandson, Charles Robinson; and great granddaughter, Danielle Carmical. Nellie is survived by her sister, Sue Trochesett; daughter-in-law, Theresa Robinson; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Marie (Carl) Tanner of Vancleave, Jimmy (Cheryl) Robinson, Angie (Albert) Goss, Wayne (Lori) Robinson, Maenell (Harry) Mohler, Joyce (Beldan) Peoples all of Woolmarket and Melodie (Dan) Carmical of Hattiesburg; sixteen great grandchildren, Steven (Andrea) Tanner, Carleen Tanner, Stephanie (Tom) Roberts, Jamie (Brian) Flowers, Walt Robinson, Terri Goss, Brianna and Jenna Robinson, Irelyn Cuevas, Aiden Cates, James, Patrick and Casey Peoples, Hope (James) Cothern, Heather and David Carmical, and two great-great grandsons, Hunter LeVan and Spenser Roberts. Visitation is Tuesday, August 26, 2008, from 6 until 9 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Howard Avenue, in Biloxi, with recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church where friends may visit one hour before service time. Interment will follow in Coalville Cemetery in Woolmarket. The family expresses their deep appreciation to Lou Hammonds for the special care, love and support she provided.
