Nellye Cannon Haines, died Tuesday, April 4, 2006 in Gulfport at home in the arms of her loving family. She was born in Francis, Putnam County, Florida, December 21, 1911. She moved to Sarasota, Florida from Palatka, Florida in 1950. She worked for Florida Power and Light Company in Palatka and Sarasota. She was a Christian and active member of the First United Methodist Church of Sarasota, Florida since 1950. She co-wrote "Memories", the centennial history book for the church in 1991. Since 1998, she has lived with her daughter and son-in-law in Gulfport, Mississippi. She attended Mississippi City United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Rebekah Circle. She wrote a personal history of her family's life in rural north Florida covering the first quarter of the century, and another one of her school days until she graduated in 1930. She was a graduate of Dade County Agricultural High School in Miami, Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Haines. Survivors include her daughter, Sallie O'Keefe Clements and son-in-law, John R. Clements of Gulfport, MS; granddaughter Jenny Smart and husband, Kevin of Biloxi, MS with great-grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jeremy, and Amanda; grandson, Doug Clements and wife, Lisa of Southhaven, MS with great-grandson, Scott; granddaughter, Pam Al-Bawab and husband Nimer of Cumming, GA with great-grandson, A.J.; and her sister, Edith Dietzen of Chattanooga, TN. The memorial service will be Saturday April 8, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, O'Neal Road, Gulfport, where friends may visit from 12 noon until the service. Interment will follow on the next Saturday, April 15, 2006 at Manasota Park Cemetery in Oneca, FL. Memorials may be made to Florida Sheriff's Youth Ranch, P. O.
