Nettie M. Whittenberg

Nettie M. Whittenberg, 85, went to be with her Savior on March 12, 2008. Her family and First Baptist Church, Biloxi (where she was married in 1941) were the center of her life. She taught Sunday School for over 40 yrs. and was active in two service choirs, as well as the Beaconkeepers and WMU. Her family was instrumental in starting a mission church, Forrest Avenue Baptist, of which they were charter members. She was a past president of the Biloxi Music Club. Preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd A. Whittenberg and parents, Abner and U V Lawhorn, Mrs. Whittenberg is survived by two daughters, Betty Jean (Chuck) Burt and Barbara Ellen (John) Rhodes; 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services are Monday, March 17, 2008 at 6:00 pm at First Baptist Church, 1560 Popps Ferry Road, Biloxi, where friends may call an hour prior to service. A graveside service will be held in Oxford, MS on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at 2:00 pm in St. Peter's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to: First Baptist Church Biloxi's Building Fund, P.O. Box 7385, Biloxi, MS 39540.
