Nolan L Broussard

Nolan L. Broussard, Sr. was a lifelong resident of Biloxi. He was born February 1, 1948, to Nutley and Daisy Broussard. He attended St. Michael Elementary School where he was often called out of class to serve Latin masses. This privilege left quite an impression on him and he vowed to dedicate himself to the Catholic Church. He continued his education at Notre Dame High School and later transferred to Biloxi High School graduating in 1966. Following graduation, he married his love on July 14, 1968 where shortly after he was drafted to the Army. He was sent to Vietnam, stationed to 1st Bn 12th Cavalry Division COM BET VET. He proudly served for two years returning home in 1970. He was presented with several awards for his valor and leadership during this time but remained very private about the recognition and took more pride in the brotherhood that he created with his fellow soldiers keeping in touch with most of these men through the years. Nolan dedicated over thirty years to the Biloxi Public School District as an educator and administrator. In addition, he taught and supervised religious education classes for Nativity Blessed Virgin Mary Church for over thirty years. Teaching was an honor for him where he held a true interest in each and every student and colleague and created lifelong friends. He was a man of great integrity and Faith and shared these qualities with everyone he met. In his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling to new places. He was an avid reader, loved to bird watch, looked forward to his monthly gatherings with his fellow retired educators/friends, and enjoyed cheering on his favorite LSU football team.
