Mr. Norman J. "Blackie" Creel, 78, of Biloxi, MS, died Friday, December 23, 2005, in Biloxi.
Mr. Creel was a native and lifelong resident of Biloxi. He was retired as a boat captain with Western Geophysical after 23 years of service. Prior to joining Western Geophysical, he worked as a commercial fisherman. Mr. Creel was a U. S. Navy Veteran of WW II and a member of St. Marys Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Katie Creel; a son, Norman J. "Chin" Creel, Jr. and two grandchildren, Dawn Marie Creel and Rodney Creel, Jr.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Ruby Dronet Creel of Woolmarket; two daughters, Dixie Creel Bellman and her husband, Chris, and Linda Creel Dodson, both of Biloxi; two sons, Rodney Creel and his wife, Linda, of Vancleave, and Kenny Creel and his wife, Cathy, of Biloxi; one sister, Lurline Little, of Wichita Falls, Texas; three brothers, Teddy Creel of Topeka, Kansas, Elwood Creel of Biloxi and Larry Creel of Ocean Springs; twelve grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 28, 2005, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Pass Road Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes in Biloxi. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at St. Marys Catholic Church where friends may visit from 12 noon till service time. Burial will follow in Biloxi City Cemetery.
