Oberia Eve Hawkins, age 97, of Ocean Springs, passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2024, in Pascagoula surrounded by her loved ones.
Oberia was a native of Biloxi, MS, and the matriarch of her family. She lived life to the fullest indulging in her favorite wine and oysters, attending as many family events as possible, and traveling the world. She loved her country and took great pride in being a military spouse. Oberia was an active parishioner of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary who loved to participate in all church activities, including daily mass, adoration, novena, and church trips to Rome and Ireland.
She was preceded in death by her parents, O’Neil Paul And Leah Gaudet; her brother, Horace Gaudet; her husband of 59 years, Lawrence Hawkins Sr.; sons, Robert Georges Sr., Raymond A. Hawkins and Lawrence Hawkins, Jr.; daughter, Oberia Breslin; grandchild, Shelley Jackson; and great grandchild, Jacob Jackson.
Oberia is survived by sister, Harriet Severson of Phoenix, AZ; daughter, Victoria Tucker of Ocean Springs; grandchildren, Stefanie (Lawrence) Beaugez, Robert (Felia) Georges Jr., Reneé (John) Melitos, Jennifer Poulin, Raymond (Brooklyn) Hawkins, Tiffany (Ronald Jr.) Marks, Kevin (Tiffany) Jackson, Namon Bangs, Bridgette Bangs, Thomas (Karen) Breslin, Mark (Jeannie) Breslin, Lydia (Rahshawn) Lee, Oberia (Mathew) Haines, Alice Breslin, Andrew (Rachellé) Breslin; and many great grandchild, and great great grandchildren.
A Mass of Catholic Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church located at 504 Jackson Ave, Ocean Springs, MS, with a rosary beginning at 10:50 a.m. Visitation for family and friends will be held an hour before services start. Interment will be at 12:30p.m. at Biloxi National Cemetery. The repass will immediately follow all services at the KC Hall, located at 421 Washington Ave Ocean Springs, MS, courtesy of the Ladies Auxiliary.
