Odell Williams, 90, of Gulfport, MS passed away Thursday, April 5, 2018 in Gulfport.
Mr. Williams was born April 26, 1927 in Gloster (Busy Corner), MS to Richard D. and Ruby Bowlin Williams. He graduated from the University of Mississippi in 1951 and served in the U.S. Army, 3rd Division in the Korean War. After his military services, he was employed as a salesman for National Gypsum Company until his retirement. Mr. Williams enjoyed playing golf with his friends and he was an avid Ole Miss sports fan and supporter and a die-hard Rebel. He was also a member of “Scrap Iron” Sunday School with First Baptist Church in Gulfport.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kristi Kitchens; his parents; and his siblings, R.D. Williams, Herman Williams, John Williams, Loraine Farrar and Paul Williams.
Mr. Williams’ survivors include his wife, Nell Causey Williams of Gulfport, MS; his children, Sylvia (Robby) Dreyfus of Meridian, MS and Charlotte Thigpen of Picayune, MS; 7 grandsons; and 12 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations be made in Mr. Williams’ memory to Camp Bratton Green at Gray Center, 157 Gray Center Road S, Canton, MS 39046.
A Memorial Service will be held at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at 4:00 pm with the Reverend J. David Knight officiating. Friends may visit from 3:00 pm until service time.
