Oliver “Clayton” Hunnings, of Pascagoula, Mississippi passed away on Monday, June 28, 2010 in Pascagoula He was born in Beaufort, North Carolina on May 29, 1940, and moved to Pascagoula in 1958. Mr. Hunnings was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Pearl Hunnings, of Beaufort, NC; and his son, David Clayton Hunnings. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Ava Jones Hunnings; two daughters Pamela Hunnings (Joe) Cravero of Gainesville, GA, Laura Hunnings (Dwayne) Etheridge; three grandsons; one great granddaughter; three brothers, Harold Grey ( Laura) Hunnings of Wade, MS, Wendel Lewis (Gail) Hunnings, John Hunnings; two sisters Debra Hunnings (Doy Ray) Rhue, Letha “Honie” Hunnings (Michael) LaCroux , all of Beaufort, NC; his mother-in-law, Avice Jones Baggett of Pascagoula, MS. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 12:00 Noon at Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church in Pascagoula, MS on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 with visitation prior to the service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Jackson County Memorial Park in Pascagoula. The family prefers donations be made in Clayton’s honor to Resurrection Catholic School or St. Vincent de Paul Society at Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church, both in Pascagoula. Many heartfelt thanks to Dr. Edgar Hull, Dr. Paul Fineburg, Singing River Cancer Center, Camillia Home Health Care, Hospice of Light, Ochsner’s Clinic in New Orleans, LA and the many nurses and staff of north wing Singing River Hospital for the great care, compassion and support.
